This short interruption to my ongoing series (All RISE) is the result of being recently stung by my own gullibility. I acknowledge a hunger for any basis for hope so when an emphatic demand loomed onto my desktop (STOP WHAT YOUR’E DOING AND LISTEN TO THIS INTERVIEW- IT WILL CHANGE THE WORLD) I did.
Hope was still in the ascendant so I failed to register that the interview for soliciting new members to the World Transformation Movement was carefully scripted. The interviewer (Craig was his name, I think) appeared to be bowled over by the revelations of the interviewee, founder Jeremy Griffith, and needed to repeat his understanding (So what you are saying is…) Thereby being able to repeat the liturgy of this new religion. The liturgy is prolix, and were I a convert I would use ten words where one would suffice. As in ‘the liturgy was prolix, verbose, repetitive, emphatic’…you get the drift.
The message may have been prolix in execution, but was wonderfully simple as to message. It seems that our ‘corrupted, evil, good-and-evil afflicted human condition that has given us the picture of our ‘competitive, selfish and aggressive nature (add in egocentric, arrogant, depressed, deluded, guilt ridden…and any you can think of) has been the indoctrinated mind’s distortion of what is really our selfless, co-operative and loving moral instinct. This war between our mind and our instincts has rendered us ‘upset’. Everything that makes us egocentric, hateful and competitive is due to being ‘upset’. So that’s the World’s wars, the injustice, the greed, the left’s obsession with identity…ad lib… sorted: reduced to being ‘upset’. (Upset has a nice veneer of near-sympathy, but a much greater aroma of dismissive triviality.)
But clarity had not yet dawned, so when, at the end of the interview I was invited to add my appreciation in a comment, I did. I said that I thought Jeremy Griffith’s changed view of our inherent nature could make an important contribution, but added that there were many whose agenda would not make them susceptible to this new world, and they were the ones running it. To my surprise I received a warm welcome by a gate-keeper email and told that I would receive a formal blessing by the publication of the comment. Never before was a comment deserving of a welcome-to-our-club email!
Only the first part was published. No caveat or qualifications allowed. But I was invited to read an essay (link provided) addressing such misgivings, and to joining their Facebook group. I was still hungry and did both. (I went further and read Griffith’s book ‘Death by Dogma’. I am now marinated in prolixity and it is seriously infectious.)
But I forgave this careful excision, and attributed it to the need to stay positive. Unaware that the WTM has had several incarnations, under different acronyms, I believed that the welcome mat was printed with ‘We will save the world’ and any ‘maybe’ or ‘perhaps not’ was unhelpful. As a new member I thought that a corroborative point of view might be reciprocally welcomed. Particularly because one authority mentioned often by Jeremy Griffiths is Arthur Koestler and he was an important supporter of my work in 1978. (He will give evidence tomorrow) So I posted (on said Fb group) an introduction to the Trial; (ALL RISE) and posted a link. This competitive, egocentric, hateful, jealous world had had quite an effect upon a book, originally conceived fifty years ago.
The invitation post was not published on their FB page either. ( Perhaps levity is not their bag)
So the compassionate, empathetic, generous option was unavailable from the World Transformation Movement. Instead it appears to have the same budget for promotion as Shen Yun, and I would guess is funded from similar deep pockets, conscripting people like me away from the temptations of the alt-media, or Q, or critical analysis. They call such temptations ‘controlled opposition’ and for awhile I fell for it.
Ah well! One learns. Hope is a slippery slope.
A P.S. I have now had the reason for the rejection of my invitation to the copious membership of the WTM. It reads as follows:
Philippa, please forgive us for not publishing your much appreciated post, but hope you’ll understand that as we receive so many posts, we have to be selective to ensure this critical new science stays as varied & impacting as possible.
